Objective —discordances between hba1c and other measures of glycemic control are common in clinical practice and remain unexplained. we developed a measure of discordance between hba1c and fructosamine (fa) (glycosylated serum proteins) to conduct a systematic evaluation. we termed this the glycosylation gap (gg) and sought to determine its relationship to diabetic nephropathy.. If your finger-stick blood tests give an average blood sugar that is much higher or lower than your a1c test, ask your doctor if the a1c is the right test for you. an alternative test to the a1c is a fructosamine test. unfortunately, the fructosamine test and the a1c are not interchangeable because they are measuring different things.. Although my fasting levels are generally higher in the morning, two weeks ago i noticed a few levels approaching 240 fasting before breakfast. for example, last week my morning level was 235. i ate a meal that had eggs and turkey sausage and coffee without sugar. my blood sugar dropped to 196 after one and a half hours..
